Braunschweiger is a spreadable liver sausage that gets its name from a town in Germany called Braunschweig. It is made from cooked liver and meat trimmings along with a blend of spices and seasonings. Advocates love it, critics raise their nose, and many unknowing souls haven’t a clue the deliciousness that awaits. It can be served on crackers with black pepper, rye bread with a spinach leaf or even on slices of cucumber with cream cheese and dill. Though oftentimes it is just eaten plain in our house.
The richness and body of liver combined with the salt and onion makes healthy, delicious fair. Our braunschweiger is processed at Geiss Meats in Merrill. Their recipe has won numerous awards and our customers agree that it is some of the best they have ever tasted. Try it today!
