There are hundreds of varieties of winter squash! It is difficult to choose what varieties we will grow each season, but we try to get everyone’s most requested along with a few we think you will love if you’re willing to give them a try. Our farm favorite is delicata. It is one of the sweetest and so easy to make. Simply cut into rings, salt and pepper, then bake. No sweeteners, no peeling, and rarely any leftovers. Our second favorite is butternut, but only because we LOVE making butternut squash soup with it. Definitely a family favorite. Please let us know if we can grow your favorite for you!

2023 Winter Squash Line-Up
- Acorn – dark green, cream with green stripes (Jester) and tan (Thelma Sanders)
- Sweet Dumpling – squatty acorn shape that is mottled with dark green, yellow and white with spots
- Delicata – cream-colored fruits with dark green longitudinal stripes and flecks
- Spaghetti – cream colored with its namesake spaghetti strand texture when baked
- Buttercup – smooth, deep green skin and a prominent gray button hat at the base (Bon Bon)
- Hubbards – orange (Red Kuri) and blue winter sweet
- Butternut – classic thick skinned, tan with smooth texture (Waldo PMR F1, Metro PMR, South Anna, JWS 6823)
- Candy Roaster – pale orange/pink banana-shaped fruits with blue tips, favorite heirloom variety
