Grown in our organic soil, utilizing non-GMO untreated seed and free from any chemicals including glyphosate. It takes an ambitious amount of energy to grow sweet corn in an organic system. Every plant is grown in our greenhouse and transplanted by hand to the field to ensure good germination and keep the corn above the weeds. This also allows us to avoid seed treated with fungicide.
Why do we refuse treated seed? Treated seed is coated in a fungicide which allows it to germinate at cooler temperatures without decaying, but it also destroys a part of the microbiome within the soil that surrounds each little seed. Living soil is one of the most important resources on our farm! Please savor this special crop and know that we put more than the average sweat and tears into getting it to you.
